MY WORK
After 15 years closing deals, I decided to learn how to break into things instead. (Legally.)

PROJECTS
I learn by breaking things. Here's what I've built (and broken) so far.
$Google Cybersecurity Certificate
Comprehensive training in threat analysis, network security, and incident response.
Currently working through the Google Cybersecurity Certificate. Coursework includes:
- Threat analysis
- Network security
- Incident response
- Linux CLI
- Python scripting
- SIEM tools
Also preparing for CompTIA Security+ (Expected: 01/2026).
$Hybrid Headless Infrastructure
Automated Multi-OS Server Architecture alternating between Proxmox VE and Ubuntu Bare Metal.
Project Overview
This project involves the design and deployment of a hybrid headless server architecture that maximizes hardware utility by alternating between a Type-1 Hypervisor (Proxmox VE) for cybersecurity labs and a bare-metal multimedia station (Ubuntu) using automated boot-loader scripting.
The primary challenge was engineering a solution to remotely switch operating systems on a server located in a physically inaccessible area (garage) without a monitor (headless), ensuring 100% uptime for critical services while allowing on-demand access to high-performance hardware.

Architecture & Hardware
Node: couve-lab
- CPU: Intel Core i5-14600KF (14 Cores / 20 Threads)
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B760M DS3H AX
- Storage Tier 1 (Hypervisor): 250GB SSD (Proxmox VE 9.1)
- Storage Tier 2 (Compute): 1TB NVMe (Ubuntu 24.04)
- Storage Tier 3 (Data): 2x 12TB HDD (ZFS/RAID Configuration)
- Networking: Static IP assignment via UniFi Gateway; Remote management via SSH & HTTPS.
Key Features & Implementation
1. Automated Boot Management (efibootmgr)
To solve the “headless switching” problem, I developed Bash aliases that interact with the UEFI Boot Manager. This allows the server to change its own boot order and restart into a different OS with a single command.
The “Switch to Game” Logic (From Proxmox):
# Modifies UEFI boot order to prioritize Ubuntu (ID 0001) for the next boot only
alias to-game='efibootmgr -n 0001 && reboot'
The “Return to Lab” Logic (From Ubuntu):
# Restores Proxmox (ID 0000) as the primary boot target
alias to-lab='sudo efibootmgr -n 0000 && sudo reboot'
2. High-Performance Remote Access
- Lab Mode: Managed via Proxmox Web GUI (HTTPS) and SSH.
- Multimedia Mode: Configured Sunshine (self-hosted game stream host) with Moonlight client to deliver low-latency, 4K video streaming to a remote client (Mac Studio) over the local LAN, bypassing the need for a physical display.
3. Resilience & Safety
- AC Power Recovery: BIOS configured to “Always On” to ensure the server recovers automatically after power loss.
- Default State: Boot priority hard-coded to Proxmox to ensure the machine always defaults to the “Server” state after a hard reset, preventing it from getting stuck in the wrong OS.
